With Usain Bolt&#039;s awesome showing in Beijing, I&#039;m sure he&#039;s going to be one of the most influential Jamaicans for the next few years. I am optimistic that he will do great things for Jamaica in the upcoming years both on and off the field.

I wish I could say the same for some other athletes though. Every time I see a philanthropic commercial on TV like &quot;NBA Cares&quot;, I really wonder do the athletes really care about the cause that they are talking about or they are just assigned a certain &quot;philanthropy quota&quot; that they need to half-heartedly fulfill.

When they donate to charity, is it because they care or they want tax deductions?</description>

		<description>I would have to agree with everything said and point out that some Jamaican athletes have given back to the country in various ways - donations to schools, communities and speaking about the importance of education.</description>
