On September 2, the Google Chrome comic was leaked, and I promptly blogged about the impending release of the Google Chrome web browser. Again, I linked to all of the existing blog coverage of Chrome I could find, including the official Google blog.

Perhaps it's still too early for that.

Since it just launched yesterday, give it some time to be field tested first, and see what the general public sentiment is towards Chrome.

Things like lack of plug-in/extension support I'm sure Google is aware of, but it's only a matter of prioritization.

Hey Jon, why not leave your suggestions and feedback to Google on their Chrome Help Center?

Exactly. The industry is now realizing that the web browser is no longer just a paginated document viewer that supports hyperlinks, but a full-fledged mini-desktop within a desktop capable of running all kinds of applications.

On a side note, this is basically a resurgence of the networked thin-client vision that both Sun and IBM have separately envisioned decades ago. But whatever, third time is a charm.

And the plug-in architecture and ecosystem in my opinion are really the killer differentiators between IE and Firefox.

I just hope Chrome will come with something similar. Otherwise, it may feel like a step down in user experience moving from Firefox to Chrome. Sort of like it feels like a step down moving from Firefox to Safari... :)

Cool I was waiting for someone in Singapore to blog about this. I got the news pretty early due to the time difference, but was too tired! I agree about the plugins. That's made the ultimate difference for me in browsing and I hope something will be in there. I'm also wondering if I'll like something based on the Safari engine. Never liked that browser.

Finally, it would be great if they had integration with mail, reader, calendar, maps, etcetc. AWESOME.
